I mention that because other examples that Bastiat rolled out for other fallacies included a proposal that French Candlemakers petition the government to block out the sun so that French Candlemakers would have the same advantages that their English counterparts have due to a foggy climate. Or the proposal that goods crossing France should be required to move in French wagons, thereby increasing employment opportunities for French draymen and other labourers. Bastiat's proposal, in that case, was that the Assembly should pass a law mandating that French wagons be unloaded and reloaded at every mile post, thus insuring an even greater increase in French employment.
